Indestructible

"I'll have you know
That I've become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible"

Indestructible from Disturbed really pumps me up when I am doing my routine.
Its heavy chords and empowering lyrics take my workout to the next level. Music is an important factor in keeping me motivated throughout my workout. IT pushes me though when I feel like I can't finish my set.

Determined

I love hills! And I am determined.

Exceeded expectations

I've been using the SHealth app on my phone. And my daily goal is 10,000 steps a day. And today I exceeded that goal. It feels great!

Running outdoors

I forgot how much I love to run outdoors, in natural terrain. There is no better feeling then sprinting up a steep incline with the wind blowing past you while you soar to the top.

An indoor treadmill will get the job done if the weather is bad but outdoor training is more challenging and enjoyable. Time flies when you are running around my neighborhood.  When you're on the treadmill it's hard not too constantly stare at the neon light mile/time tracker. If your getting bored with the treadmill then take some time off from the gym to enjoy a brisk evening jog.

My current routine

I started my workout with some active - isolated stretches which is holding the  stretch for 2 seconds and doing about 8-10 reps, about 2 sets of each muscle stretched.

I also did some balance, plyometric, and core training.  Going to finish my work out with cardio.

Integrated Program Design and Exercise Modalities

This week I am excited to be learning Program design and Exercise modalities.  The program design are all the components that make up an exercise routine which include Reps (one complete movement), Sets (group of exercises), Training Intensity, Repitition Tempo (the speed), Rest Interval(rest time), Training Volume, Training Frequency,Training Duration and Exercise Selection

It's really neat to learn how to manipulate the body with these components depending on the goal of the client. Can't wait to put it to use.

My midterm results

I was disappointed in my score.  I got 32 out of 50 questions right for a 64% grade.  The good thing is that I know what I need to work on for my certification exam. The most trouble I am having is on muscle anatomy and functions.  They want you to know isolated muscle functions and what the overactive/underactive muscle compensations are for the different assessments. For instance they will give you a scenario like the one below. It's tough and a little overwhelming but I know what I need to focus on.  Because I can't fail.  I will succeed.

The year, 2013

2013 was a big year for me. It was the worst and best time of my life. It's the year I was my heaviest weight and it was also the year I decided to lose that weight. It was the year that I stopped feeling pity for myself and took action.

It was the year I embarked on my journey. Unaware and cautious of my future. It was the year I decided what I wanted to do with my life. My body transformation triggered a life transformation. Like a ripple effect it slowly trickled to the other elements in my life; it enhanced my mood, health and relationships.

It gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my dreams. To pursue my goals unbridled by fear or regrets. It's been quite a liberating experience. And while I'm not finished, I am definitely in a much better place going into 2014 then I was going into 2013. I am blessed to have the support of my family and friends. Without their love and support this journey would have been much more difficult.

Instead of New Year's Resolutions, let's shoot for lifestyle transformations that will last us a lifetime. One step at a time. Once pound at a time. Let's get moving.

My new training kicks

Finally got my new spine lazer Under Armor shoes in the mail. They fit great. They are lightweight and visually unique. Can't wait to train in these shoes.
